Okay so the Pantone thing didn't work out

Hi guys, I am writting to you from my little computer. It's awesome but at the same time it doesn't have windows on it. It's got another pogram called Linux. Anyways the point is I can't download things to it with reckless abandon like I could with windows. So I have to wait till Vince brings home his work computer and then try downloading again. Good news is I scoured the web looking for a pale orange/grey colour combo wedding and couldn't find one! Yahoo! I know grey is so trendy right now but I kinda think I don't care. What do you guys think?

Wedding on the brain!

Hi everybody! Man I've got wedding fever! Vince and I have decided to set a date for summer next year and then start planning around that. It's hard though cause we don't know where we will be next year and aren't likely to find out until December of this year. So I betcha we will be scrambling to book a venue 7 or 8 months before the wedding date. But hey what are ya gonna do? We are expats and that's the way it is. So I am learning very early in the wedding planning that I really have to just go with the flow. URGH! HA!
So I have been dreaming about colour palettes these last two nights and I cant seem to get away from light orange and grey. I am downloading the Pantone colour palette thingie and will upload the colours so you can get an idea of what's in my head. K.

Sunday Mdina

Hi everybody! How was your weekend? On Saturday I went to the Marsa sports field to watch Vince play rugby for the first time with his new team. I can't believe I forgot my camera! Oh man! It was so awesome to watch Vince get down and dirty in a scrum with his short shorts let me tell you girls! Sorry Aunt Lyn no pictures of the hot frenchman this week but I promise I will take some next Sat. :)
So on Sunday we went to Mdina. It's Malta at it's most picturesque! The outer stone walls were fortified as early as 1000BC by the Phoenicians. It's even got an old moat around it! In medieval times it was the capital city and called the Nobile City. Now a days there are only around 300 inhabitants and it's called the Silent City. Well either way it's enchanting. We roamed around the spooky stone streets and stopped for coffee and cake at Le Fontanella one of the only restaurants in town. It sits on the edge of the town walls and has spectacular views over the country side onto the sea. I will post more pictures of that tomorrow.

Kindle is my new middle name.

Good morning everyone and thanks again for all the lovely comments about our PACS! You guys are the best!
Happy Friday! What are you going to be doing this weekend? Vince is playing in his first rugby game on Saturday so that should be fun. I can't wait to watch him run around the field in those short little rugby shorts. That's whats it's all about for me! HA!
Anyways I have been meaning to tell you about my Amazon Kindle that I got for Christmas. I'll be honest when I opened it for the first time I didn't really know what it was. It looked like a big calculator for Grandmas who didn't want to admit they needed their glasses just yet. But once I figured it out, wozers there was no stopping me. I have so many books uploaded and just waiting there patienlty for me to read them. (it's so exciting) Currently I am reading the memoir of American Poet Mary Karr. It's so dark and hilarious at the same time. I just can't seem to put it down. The Kindle is my friend because he sits flat. I love that I never tire out my thumbs by holding all the pages down. He also has beautiful perfect size text for me to read and plays little slide shows of authors and pretty pictures whenever I take a reading break. I just love the technology of how it looks. The text is like real text you know what I mean? Man I'm bad a techy words. Well anyways the screen doesn't make your eyes tired or bloodshot. It is designed to look like ink on a page. It's a flat look...hmmmm is that a bettter explanation? Maybe I didn't write about my new Kindle love affair cause I wasn't really sure how to explain it!
Well there you have it, why I love my Kindle. And if any of you are thinking of traveling a lot in the near future and can't lug all those heavy books with you in your suitcases then I suggest you get a Kindle too and then we can gush together.
Happy Reading in whatever way you do it.

Oh Frig I need a computer lesson

Hi guys, my post for today is about my new Kindle but for some reason it is showing up under Jan 18th. So you have to scroll down my page to see it. Sorry everybody! I need to take a HTML class or something and be more professional and less pissed off at my skills all the time. :)

You didn't miss The Wedding! (just so no ones confused....)

Just to be clear, we are still getting married in the near future! Getting PACS is just a way to make me feel safe in the short term up until the wedding. With PACS I will be able to apply for health insurance while in France and even apply for citizenship soon enough. Whew! just wanted to clear that up! The wedding planning is still in full swing!

We are PACSy PACSed!

Us after we signed the papers to get PACS at the French Embassy
We asked a passerby to take our picture on the way back to the car in Valletta
Finally a kissing break!
After signing the papers we went out for lunch just the two of us in St. Julains and then Vince had to go back to work!

Good Morning Every body! Yesterday afternoon Vince and I went to the French Embassy in Valletta to get PACS. PACS is like "Common Law" in Canada, but in France you have to got to city hall or the embassy if you are out of the country and sign a bunch of papers and make a decleration to eachother. Also you can only get PACS once in your lifetime. French people think of it a little like marriage...apparently it was invented so that same sex couple could have the same rights as married opposite sex couples.
So we went into the embassy a little late and sat down in the counselor's office. We signed some paperwork and handed over copies of our birth certificates and worte out a declaration to each other. It was pretty mundane until the counselor left the room to photocopy something. Vince looked at me and I looked back at him and we both became overwhelmed with emotion. It was romantic and a very important moment in Our Love Story.
I will never forget it!

Sunday Marsxlokk #4 (Lace tablecloths)

Sunday Marsxlokk #3 (The Village)

Walking down the main drag to get some lunch

Check out the british red phone booth!

Sunday Marsaxlokk #2 (Fisherman's Wives)

This lady was selling live octopus. They were dispersing ink and trying to slither out of the case. I was pretty freaked out to say the least. We didn't end up buying an octopus.

Sunday Marsaxlokk #1 (Fisherman and their boats)

Good morning Every body! On Sunday we went to the fish market in the southern town of Marsaxlokk. We took so many pictures! So I suppose this we be a 3 part post just so I can get them all up.
Marsalokk is a small fishing village in southern Malta. It is one of Malta's two natural harbours. All the fish that you will eat in restaurants around the island come from this town and their fisherman. The market is humongous with the fisherman's wives selling the fish and the farmers with their veggies and fruit and also a lot of souvenirs and lace tablecloths. We had a great time wandering up and down the alleys and ended up having a fish lunch at one of the snack bars lined up on the main drag across from the market. We will definitely make a stop here when you come to visit!

For my Mom #2

I'm standing on the other side of the intersection taking a picture of my street.
The variety/neighbourhood bar like store on the corner of our street.

The round about at the end of our street in action

A ricotta pastizzie from the corner, this bad boy cost me .25 euro cents.

So this is the intersection/corner at the end of my road. It's busy and loud and awesome. I can get anything I need here, the main bus stop is right on the other side of the street and my grocery store is down the road a little further.

Standing from my door looking down the street

Good morning every body! Mom has been dying to see what I see when I look out my window. I have been kinda putting it off because to tell you the truth it's not that pretty. St. Julians aside from the picturesque Spinola Bay is not that picturesque. This is where people live and eat and play and it's gaining so much popularity that ugly highrises (in Malta standards) are being quickly built on top of old houses, unfourtunately the effect is no so nice. But please don't be dissuaded, Malta is a beautiful historic island with many old and medieval villages. It's just no one really lives in them anymore. I mean old people who go to bed at 6pm and wake up at 4am do and if Vince and I are still here into our 70's then we might just join them. But for now we choose to stay where it's happenin' ya know what I mean?
