Weight Watchers weigh in Monday

Good Morning Guys! So you remember where I was last week eh? Well this morning I weighed in at 90.7 kgs or 199.5 pounds! I lost 0.5 pounds! Whooohooooo right? I wish I was happier. I am feeling a little plateau-ey. I checked the weight tracker on my WW online account and I weighed in at 199.5 on Dec 6th so it's been over a month hovering around this same number. I know I have to be patient with my self and weight loss only gets harder the longer you keep at it but come on!

That being said I am feeling stronger this week! During Christmas in France it was so hard to refuse wine and cheese, beautifully made cakes, little apero snacks, sumptuous foie gras and the party just keep going when I got home. I didn't gain a massive amount or derail my train but still I was hoping to keep losing little by little even though it was the holidays.

Back to reality. I have put the wine bottle back in the cabinet (for weekends only) and brought out the soup bowl instead. I am trying my hand at different flavourful soup recipes to take the damp chill out of this Maltese winter and a maybe a few inches off my waist!
We'll see how it goes!
How are you guys doing? How were the holidays on your waistline?!

Weight Watchers 6month Update

Good morning everybody! Today is Monday and that means weigh in day for Weight Watchers. I realize that I haven't been updating you and I don't want you to think I have given up. Not even close! I am still very committed even with that foodie free for all Paris trip.
I set a mini-goal for myself to be under 200 pounds by Dec. 21st which would be my 6month anniversary on Weight Watchers. I am happy to say that I have reached that goal one week early. I am at 199.5 pounds or 90.7 Kgs. I am overjoyed! I haven't weighed under 200 pounds since I was maybe like 21 years old!
All together I have lost 25.1 pounds in the last 6 months and since I started my weight loss journey 3 years ago I have lost a total of 45.5 pounds!
I've started to explore my spiritual side and am feeling more in tune with myself than ever. I think that is also having a wonderful result on my health. I can't thank my partner Vince and my Mom and Dad and Aunt Jane for their support enough! Without you this would never be possible! I am continuing this journey of health so that I may be a better mother and daughter and wife and live a strong long life with all of these people! That's my number one goal!

P.S. Did you know just a 10pound weight loss can dramatically change you blood pressure and cholesterol levels! It doesn't take a lot to change your health for the better!

Alrighty, back on the train!

Hi guys! I was thinking I would start the 30 day Shred again on the 01st of Nov. Does anyone want to join me? I thought it'd be a nice kick start before the Christmas season. I've still been losing weight on Weight Watchers online and doing my other workouts but I love taking it up a notch everyonce in a while and I think it's time! What do you say people? Are you on the train?

P.S. The job interview went great. I am hoping to hear something this week. Thank you so much for all the encouraging comments.

Oh Muffin Man!

Good Morning everybody! This week we are using our kitchen as a testing ground for diet muffins. And I will tell you now I am not impressed. We made banana muffins from the WeightWatchers magazine for 4 points each and then apple oatmeal muffins from the WeightWatchers website for 2 points and both were disappointing. They are dense and chewy. What the hell?!
Anyone got a good diet muffin recipe out there? I am about to give up!

So what!?!? Have you ever done the same thing?

Yesterday I witnessed myself emotionally eating. I always wondered what people meant when they said that phrase and obviously I had been doing it for years but never knew. I thought it was one of those buzz words that Oprah invented that would be here and gone in a few years.
But then. Vince and I had been working on adopting a precious 8 week old puppy we planned on calling Sunni. Yesterday I got word from my landlord that there was no way I could have a pet in the house. I felt so mad and sad, close to the same feeling as the miscarraige last Feb. And so I drank wine and ate cheese, in the early afternoon. Classic! I said well this is something I CAN control and basically, fuck it! I knew I was emotional eating but I did it anyways.
The thing is I didn't go over my points for the day or derail my diet or anything but I finally figured out that I do do that. And I need to find other ways to make myself feel better for the next time. I hope I have the strenght to turn to meditation next time. Because there will always be a next time! ;-)
The present moment is inevitable!

Weight Watchers Monday

Good afternoon Everybody! I am sitting over here in Malta trying to think of something to be happy about after my three favourite people in the world just left.
Sooooooo Monday is my weekly weigh-in day for Weight Watchers and drumroll please....I lost 2.7 pounds this week. Pretty good for totally enjoying my self to the ends of the earth with my family. I guess happiness is the ground work for health! (I thought I would celebrate that by sharing a picture with my slim belly showing! HA!)
I have lost 9.7 pounds since I started this journey on June 21/2010 and am offically down to my pre-pregnacy/miscarraige weight. Now to get working on the other 54 pounds! Wish me luck!

Portion Distortion

Good Morning Everybody! Monday is weigh in day for me on my new Weight Watchers plan. It's been a month since Mom and Dad and I have been on this journey. I am happy to report that I have lost a total of 4.4 pounds! Whoooohoooooooo! And to tell you the truth it hasn't been that hard. (well except fot Jillian Micheals and her asskicking workout video from hell that I have been doing for the last 2 weeks) But honestly WW is awesome! I really feel like I am eating all the time and even splurging quite often and still losing 1 pound a week.

The main lesson I have learned is portion sizes. I've always heard people blab on and on about it. Like a chicken breast should be the size of your palm or a deck of cards blah blah blah. I just put what I thought was healthy on my plate. Boy was I wrong! Holy small chicken breast! Holy small steak serving! Holy small bowl of cereal! It wasn't until I bought a small food scale that I realized how really humongous portion sizes I was feeding myself for all my life! It's incrediable! Have you really and I mean really checked out how friggin small a real serving of grilled chicken is? I buy a regular size skinless boneless size chicken breast at the store (honestly nothing too big, I thought it was a healthy "diet"size) take it home measure it and then have to cut it in half!

After I cut in half and eat it I am full though. Honestly. So I guess the Portion People were right. Cut everything in half, you will be full and you will lose weight. End of story.

What are you drinking this summer?

Goodafternoon everybody! Man it's really getting hot out there and since I am on WeightWatchers I have been thinking a lot about what should be my summer drink. Apparently Champagne (and in my casa Cava) is only 90 cals a glass! Since I have started WW I have been sticking to light beer which is 1.5 points or a vodka soda which is 2 points.
BUT I was reading on That's Fit about Sangria being about 80cals a glass as long as you make your own and omit extra sugar and I was like Hell Ya! I love to make Sangria! Especially the white kind! I found this one blogger who adds white cheeries and apricots to hers! Now that sounds like a summer drink plan to me if I ever heard one! What about you? What's on your drink roster for this summer?
Vodka, cran and soda is also low on cals and reminds me of my sister in law.....Britt hurry up and get your cute ass over here and start chopping fruit and I'll get the pitcher out!

Me and Mom's favourite new snack

Mom and Dad and I have been on Weight Watchers for the last two weeks and are actually having fun with it! I know right?! Anyways we have found a new awesomely tasty snack, fat-free ricotta on crusty bread. I add a tsp of honey and torn up basil on mine and Mom likes hers with sliced tomatoes and cracked pepper. And it's only 3 points! I use whatever bread I have and Mom likes the german wheat bread that comes double packed in saran wrap at the store. But once I used Wasa crackers and it was only 2 points! Whoohoooo! Seriously try it and fall in love.

I'm a loser baby!

Hi guys, I thought I would give you an update on my weight loss progress. I have been on the plan for two weeks now and have held myself accountable for all the food and activity and am having a great time! The first week saw me lose 1.3 pounds and the second week I lost 3.3pounds. So that's a total of 4.6pounds! Whoohooooo! I am not sure if you know how WW works but basically you have a set about of points allocated to you per day depending on your height and weight mesurments. (I have 28points per day) This daily balance is designed to make you feel full and still lose 1 pound a week. I have been sticking to my daily allowance and even going over it a few days. The nice people at WW also give you an extra 35 points a week for treats and you better believe I use all those up as well.
The big thing I have learned so far is portion size. I never knew that one cup of cooked pasta was so small! It's crazy! I have been eating 4 full daily servings of pasta before at one sitting! Also a normal chicken breast for me is double the intended size to fill me up. I just can't believe how much I was overeating and here I thought I was so healthy!
What have you guys been doing lately to stay healthy?

Todays the Day

Good Morning Guys! Guess what?! I joined Weight Watchers Online today! Whohooooooo!
I have been overweight my whole life, yo-yoíng up and down. But for the last year and a bit I have been steadly losing weight on my own through mostly exercise and eating lighter foods. The first picture is of me at my heaviest in Barcelona June 2008. I was at around 250 pounds. The second picture is me at my skinnest in Paris December 2009, 2 days after we got engaged. I was at around 214 pounds.
While I was pregnant I was ridiculously hungry for everything and I mean everything! At the same time I tried working out and joined an aerobics class only for the instructor to ask me to stop after 10mins when I felt dizzy. (even light yoga made me what to pass out.) After 10 weeks and the miscarraige I had gained back 13 pounds. And that's where I am today.
I know I can slowly lose weight on my own. But I have a sneaking suspicion that there is an easier way. I want ideas for recipes and motivation from others people going through the same experience and online support. So all this has brought to Weight Watchers. My goal weight is 160 and then to mantain it for the rest of my life. So that's 67 pounds to go. I am so excited to see where it takes me! Does anyone want to join me?
